| Orth an der Donau was first mentioned in 865. However, archeological findings showed that there was already a settlement in the Stone Age. Orth gained importance in the Middle Ages, on the threshold of modern times. Even today, witnessed by the four powerful towers of the fortified water castle of its former importance.
Today, we find a lovely town, with more than 2000 people, the contemporary standard, a remarkable choice of shops, a variety of restaurants, jobs and a true natural paradise. Orth is just a few miles from Vienna in the heart of the Danube National Park, in the south of the March field. Here is the granary of Austria and also lots of vegetable cultivation.
A varied landscape and a mild climate gives this area in the east of Austria a special flair.
The Danube woods are a unique, pristine natural landscape at the gates of Vienna. "The green wilderness at the river" offers at any time of year an impressive natural look. Many hiking trails invite you to unforgettable walks. The Danube flow is just Orth in his finest.
Have fun on the website of Orth an der Donau
sincerely
